Spring Break Camp Registration Now Open

Camp will be held March 11-13 from 8:00 am-3:00 pm at the Kreher Preserve and Nature Center. This year campers will learn about the role of food, water, and shelter as they enjoy hands on activities in shelter-making and pond based activities. The cost for camp is $120 for members of KPNC and $150 for non-members and includes all camp activities and a snack for each day. Nature Explorers Registration begins for Spring Session

Nature Explorers, our program for home-school students and their families, will begin again this March through May. Through this program, we will explore science related topics through interactive learning in our 120-acre classroom. Each session will include an educational program and an interpretive hike through the property. Topics for the spring session include:

Our Spring series consists of 3 sessions, each from 10 to 11:30 AM:
March 4: Weather
April 8: Incredible Insects
May 13: Amazing Alabama

The sessions are $5 each per child ($15 for the entire series), due on the first day of class. Current membership with the Kreher Presreve & Nature Center is required to register.

We must have at least 5 families registered or the session will be cancelled.

Get ready for camps…

Registration for our Spring Break Camp and Summer Camps are just around the corner. Spring Break Camp will take place March 11-13 from 8:00am-3:00pm for first through sixth graders, registration begins Jan 21st online. Our summer camps this year will take place during the month of June and go from 8:00am-12:00pm. This year’s theme is ‘Alabama Rocks’ and will focus on the intriguing world of geology. Camp fees are as follows:

Spring Break: $120 for members/$150 for non-members. Fees include all materials used at camp and snacks for all three days.

Summer Camp: $125 per student per week. Fees include all materials used at camp, daily snacks, and a t-shirt. Children must have a KPNC membership to attend (Family memberships start at $35/year).

Hike it Baby monthly hikes begin Jan.3

Our partnership with Hike It Baby continues this year on January 3 at 3:30pm as we discover and learn about nests. On the first Thursday of each month we will lead a hike for our smallest explorers. All are welcome and there is no charge. We will meet at the covered pavilion and head our from there. To learn more about Hike It Baby, check out their website at https://hikeitbaby.com/.

Ho! Ho! Ho! Hike December 15, 10:00 am

Hike through the winter woods on a search for the color red. You may learn more about a red-tailed hawk or red fox along the way and then end your hike with a visit from the man in red, Santa Claus!

Tickets are available at the event for $5 each. Hikes will end with hot chocolate around the campfire.

Halloween Enchanted Forest Rescheduled for Oct 29 & 30

Due to a rainy forecast, we have decided to reschedule the Halloween Enchanted Forest to Oct 29 & 30.  The weather looks to be much better on these days and we want to make sure that everyone has a wonderful experience.  There are still tickets available, to purchase click on the link to the left on the homepage, https://secure.touchnet.net/C20021_ustores/web/classic/store_main.jsp?STOREID=175.  

Halloween Enchanted Forest: Rain Delay…

We are currently monitoring the weather for the upcoming Halloween Enchanted Forest, currently scheduled for Oct 25&26.  The rain looks to be making the event a little soggy so we may have to postpone until Monday, Oct 29 and Tuesday, Oct 30.  A final decision will be made later on today (Tuesday), in the meantime, ticket sales are postponed.  Thanks for your understanding!  Hope to see you all soon!

Halloween Enchanted Forest, Oct 25 & 26

This fun, family-friendly Halloween event takes our guests on a magical hike in our Enchanted Forest where they will be greeted and entertained by our costumed forest friends. Admission is $5 per person. This event is not recommended for children under 3 who might be afraid of costumed characters. Reservations are required.

Buy tickets and sign up for a set time slot. Group hikes will lead out every 10 minutes starting at 5:30 p.m. with last hike leaving out at 7:30 p.m. Hikes will last approximately 45-50 minutes. You will need to arrive and check in at pavilion a minimum of 15 minutes before your hike slot. Children’s activities will be available until hike starts including pumpkin bowling and various crafts. Wear your Halloween costume and comfy walking shoes. Bring a flashlight. Event will end at our amphitheater with a campfire , fortune teller and photo opportunities.

Fall Family Fun Day, Oct 6

Enjoy this fun event for the whole family at the preserve celebrating fall with music, hikes, animal encounters, face painting, and nature related crafts on October 6 between 10:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m.. Food and drinks will be available for purchase and no registration is required. Overflow parking will be available in our north parking lot, located on Farmville Rd.  From this location, there is a well-marked 0.4-mile hike to amphitheater or golf cart shuttle will be available as well.  Entry is a $1 donation to the preserve for Adults and Youth, children 3 and under are free.
