Sat, Mar 29, 9 – 11 AM. Kreher is excited to be teaming up with Auburn University’s Museum of Natural History to present Dr. Geoff Hill, one of the nation’s leading ornithologists and curator of the museum’s bird collection.
Prepare to be enchanted by the beauty and diversity of the birds of the southeast as Professor Geoff Hill shares his extensive knowledge and passion for ornithology. With a career spanning 27 years as a professor at Auburn University, Geoff’s integrative research investigates the function and evolution of animal ornamentation, making him the perfect guide for this avian adventure.
During this engaging presentation, Professor Hill will shed light on the intricate relationships between these fascinating creatures and their environments, and guide you on a fun and engaging hike through the Kreher Preserve & Nature Center to observe native habitats and identify common bird species found during this season.
You will also have the opportunity to visit science stations that include dissecting an owl pellet to look for skeletal remains, building your own personalized bird feeder, exploring the different functions of bird beak shapes, and trying your hand at nest building with natural materials.
