Ho! Ho! Ho! Hike December 15, 10:00 am

Hike through the winter woods on a search for the color red. You may learn more about a red-tailed hawk or red fox along the way and then end your hike with a visit from the man in red, Santa Claus!

Tickets are available at the event for $5 each. Hikes will end with hot chocolate around the campfire.

Halloween Enchanted Forest Rescheduled for Oct 29 & 30

Due to a rainy forecast, we have decided to reschedule the Halloween Enchanted Forest to Oct 29 & 30.  The weather looks to be much better on these days and we want to make sure that everyone has a wonderful experience.  There are still tickets available, to purchase click on the link to the left on the homepage, https://secure.touchnet.net/C20021_ustores/web/classic/store_main.jsp?STOREID=175.  

Halloween Enchanted Forest: Rain Delay…

We are currently monitoring the weather for the upcoming Halloween Enchanted Forest, currently scheduled for Oct 25&26.  The rain looks to be making the event a little soggy so we may have to postpone until Monday, Oct 29 and Tuesday, Oct 30.  A final decision will be made later on today (Tuesday), in the meantime, ticket sales are postponed.  Thanks for your understanding!  Hope to see you all soon!

Halloween Enchanted Forest, Oct 25 & 26

This fun, family-friendly Halloween event takes our guests on a magical hike in our Enchanted Forest where they will be greeted and entertained by our costumed forest friends. Admission is $5 per person. This event is not recommended for children under 3 who might be afraid of costumed characters. Reservations are required.

Buy tickets and sign up for a set time slot. Group hikes will lead out every 10 minutes starting at 5:30 p.m. with last hike leaving out at 7:30 p.m. Hikes will last approximately 45-50 minutes. You will need to arrive and check in at pavilion a minimum of 15 minutes before your hike slot. Children’s activities will be available until hike starts including pumpkin bowling and various crafts. Wear your Halloween costume and comfy walking shoes. Bring a flashlight. Event will end at our amphitheater with a campfire , fortune teller and photo opportunities.

Fall Family Fun Day, Oct 6

Enjoy this fun event for the whole family at the preserve celebrating fall with music, hikes, animal encounters, face painting, and nature related crafts on October 6 between 10:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m.. Food and drinks will be available for purchase and no registration is required. Overflow parking will be available in our north parking lot, located on Farmville Rd.  From this location, there is a well-marked 0.4-mile hike to amphitheater or golf cart shuttle will be available as well.  Entry is a $1 donation to the preserve for Adults and Youth, children 3 and under are free.

AUsome Amphibians and Reptiles Show

Join the Kreher Preserve & Nature Center staff for a one-hour presentation on the AUsome amphibians and reptiles found in our state and beyond. Children and adults will enjoy this entertaining hands-on program with live animals. Admission is $5/person. Children 3 and under are free. Pre-registration is not required.

KPNC featured on RFD TV’s Simply Southern

The Kreher Preserve and Nature Center was recently featured on an episode of RFD TV’s Simply Southern show.  The show highlights unique places around the state of Alabama each week.  The episode originally aired August 19 but will return on air on November 18.  In the meantime, you can follow this link below to watch, the KPNC is featured around the 10:00 minute mark.

Auburn University Welcome Week: Hike It Auburn

We are excited about welcoming back the Auburn University students with our event, ‘Hike It Auburn’ on Tuesday, August 21 from 5:00-7:00pm.  This free event will let Auburn students come explore our six miles of trails and have interactive experiences with our animals including snakes, lizards, and an alligator!  Trail mix and lemonade will be provided.

The Kreher Preserve and Nature Center is located at 2222 N. College Street and can be reached by a short drive down College St. or through a Tiger Transit request.

Registration Opens for Fall Forest Friends and Nature Explorers

Forest Friends is an exploratory nature program for pre-school children aged 2-5. Classes meet over the course of a six-week period from 9:30-11:00am beginning Friday, September 21 and continuing through Friday, October 28. Children will learn about themes including Beautiful Butterflies; Icky Sticky Worm; Spotty Salamanders; 123, What do I see?; ,Hairy Scaly , Squishy; and Wesley, the Amazing Alligator. Cost is $45 per student, membership at the magnolia level is required.

Nature’s Explorer Home School program is an environmental education program designed for home-schooling families which offers a unique educational experience for home-schooled students and their parents. Classes will meet the on September 10, October 8, and November 12 from 10:00-11:30am. Topics include Alabama Wildflowers, Bird Beaks, Feet and Tweets, and Incredible Invertebrates. Family membership to the Kreher Preserve at Magnolia level ($35) or above is required for registration.. This class incorporates hands-on science with nature and environmental awareness and concludes with a nature hike. Students will learn about a different topic each class of the 3 month session. The sessions will consist of approximately a 45 minute lesson and a 45 minute hike.
