Science on Saturdays: Bats!

The KPNC welcomes bat expert Vicky Beckham Smith for an incredible up-close look at bats and their fascinating lives in the dark! See live bats and join a night hike to look for wild bats. Saturday, May 22, 6:30 – 8:30 PM. Tickets available now!

You’ll get to see live native and exotic bats, as well as learn about the number of bats, their different sizes, and why bats are so important.  Then, we’ll venture out into the woods for a night hike and try to detect some bats ourselves.  We may even spot some bats swooping down for water at the KPNC Turtle Pond.

Vicky Beckham Smith, AKA “The Bat Lady,” comes to us from, A-Z ANIMALS, a local environmental education organization, home to many residents including bats, turtles, snakes, tarantulas, scorpions, lizards, frogs, and more!  Vicky is an award-winning environmental educator and experienced naturalist, teaching over 5000 people each year.  Vicky loves these little winged furry creatures of the night and she is happy to share her passion with us.  Yes, she is batty!!!  Follow A-Z Animals on Facebook!
