Registration opens for Spring Break Camps on Monday!

The theme for 2022 Spring Break Camp is KPNC: March Madness. We’ll explore various animals in the natural world and how they would match up against each other based on survival characteristics.

Spring Break Camps are offered during both Auburn and Opelika city school spring break holidays.

The Kreher Preserve & Nature Center’s Forest Friends Series offers early-childhood, nature-based education for children and their parents.  Each program is designed for specific developmental stages and works to integrate nature into the life of you and your child(ren) from the very beginning.

Forest Friends is for children aged 2 to 5 and Tree Tots is for children aged 1 (walking) to 3.  Each class is $12 per student.

HoHoHo Hike

Even the Holiday Spirit enjoys the fresh air!  Join us for this one-of-a-kind holiday hike!!

Hikers will visit stations along a well-marked trail to pick up and learn a little about some of nature’s beautiful treasures.  Hikers will use these items to create beautiful, custom art project for the holidays.  A fun holiday photo opportunity will be set up in the Nature Playground for you to take a family photo.  And children will be able to wave at Santa who will be safely nestled in his tree house workshop!  Covid-19 might change how we do things, but it can’t stop the fun!

Admission is $5/person ($4 for members); children 2 and under are free.  This event will be cancelled or postponed in the event of inclement weather – please watch our Facebook page for updates.

In the Garden with Cyndi: Fall Crops & Garden Art

What can you plant in cooler temperatures?  This month, we will learn how to keep your garden going through the winter.  And as you are cutting back those summer plants, don’t let that plant material go to waste.  Get some great ideas for projects you can make!

In The Garden With Cyndi is a fun, casual gardening class for adults where you get to learn tips and tricks, get your hands dirty, and get expert advice on a myriad of gardening techniques and best practices.

Cyndi Czerkawski is an experienced gardener and educator.  She has spent years accumulating knowledge about gardening and is ready to pass that on to you!

Nature Art Series: Leaf Painting

Come and enjoy the colorful fall foliage at KPNC while creating beautiful leaf prints on the pavilion! We will explore fun leaf printing techniques on different kinds of paper using found leaves and acrylic paints. Please dress appropriately for painting.

Local artist Heather Jackson teams up with the KPNC to bring you The KPNC Nature Art Series (https://aub.ie/natureart).  Join us each month for a nature-themed art class appropriate for all ages!

Online registration is available for each class; or, you may pay “at the door” so long as there is still space available.  Children under 18 must be accompanied by a caregiver/parent.  The workshop will be cancelled if we do not have a minimum of 4 participants.

Fall Camp

November 11, 8 AM – 3 PM, Pre-registration Required

There’s still space in our last Fall Camp of the season! Instead of sitting around the house, lost in their devices, send your children outside!! Fall Camps are a great opportunity for socializing, fresh air and exercise, and a little nature education.

Family Discovery Hike: White-tailed Deer

Tuesday, November 9, 3:30 – 4:30 PM

Join our guides for an educational adventure as you and your children take in the many sights and sounds of the Preserve. For families with children aged 5 to 12. Meet at the main pavilion. Discovery hikes are free – donations welcomed.
